Physiotherapy is responsible to restore and enhance the functional activities of patients. Patients may present with impairments such as muscle pain, joint pain, muscle weakness, neck and back pain, joint stiffness or shortness of breath which would potentially lead to disabilities such as difficulty to eat, walk, and work or even to drive a car. Paediatrics cases such as cerebral palsy, down syndrome, torticollis and many other child related disorders may be successfully treated by a competent physiotherapist.
Physiotherapists would assess adequately and identify the problems the patient have and the causes of these problems. Treatments in physiotherapy encompass a holistic approach. Common cases such as back or neck pain may not have its origin of pain at the problematic site, but may actually be caused by other parts of the body such as an abnormal foot placement, or even an abnormal tilt of the pelvic bone. Necessary treatments would be provided to address each problem identified.
